About the role

Backend Software Engineer – Golang

About the role

Exness is looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to join its Risk Management Platform team in Limassol.

The team develops an internal platform that helps identify and prevent risks associated with payment transactions. The system processes transaction data, detects unusual activity and supports the protection of the company’s payment products against fraud and abuse.

In this role, you will design and develop reliable backend services using Go. You will work on microservices, integrations, data-processing logic and internal tools operating in a high-load financial environment.

You will contribute throughout the complete development lifecycle, from technical planning and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing production support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, build and maintain backend microservices using Go.

  • Develop reliable, reusable and testable services for payment-risk systems.

  • Create integrations with external platforms and services maintained by other engineering teams.

  • Develop algorithms and processing logic used to identify transaction anomalies.

  • Investigate and resolve performance, scalability and architectural challenges.

  • Improve existing services through refactoring and technical-debt reduction.

  • Participate in technical and architectural discussions.

  • Write unit, integration and other automated tests.

  • Review code written by other engineers and provide constructive technical feedback.

  • Document system architecture, development processes and reusable components.

  • Monitor and support services after they have been released to production.

  • Communicate delivery progress, technical risks, estimates and potential blockers.

  • Collaborate with engineers, product specialists and other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Help improve engineering standards and promote a strong DevOps culture.

What we’re looking for

  • At least five years of professional software-development experience.

  • At least three years of commercial experience developing services with Go.

  • Strong knowledge of backend development and microservice architecture.

  • Experience building concurrent or asynchronous applications.

  • Advanced understanding of unit and integration testing.

  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.

  • Practical experience working with PostgreSQL.

  • Experience using Kafka within distributed systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Git and modern version-control workflows.

  • Experience using Docker and running services in Linux containers.

  • Understanding of operating systems, networking and virtualised environments.

  • Experience designing scalable, reliable and maintainable backend systems.

  • Knowledge of software-design principles such as SOLID.

  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design and clearly defined service boundaries.

  • Understanding of Clean Code and Clean Architecture practices.

  • The ability to investigate complex problems rather than only completing predefined development tasks.

  • Professional English suitable for technical discussions and international collaboration.

Skills that would be an advantage

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary or cross-functional product teams.

  • Familiarity with Kafka Connect.

  • Experience contributing to frontend or internal user-interface development.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript.

  • Previous experience with payment platforms, fraud prevention or financial-risk systems.

  • Experience working with high-load or mission-critical services.

  • Familiarity with monitoring, deployment automation and continuous-delivery practices.
