About the role
XM is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join its Data Science and Business Intelligence department in Cyprus.
In this role, you will work with large datasets to develop machine-learning models, advanced analytical solutions and data products that support business decision-making.
You will contribute across the complete data-science lifecycle, including data preparation, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, documentation and production readiness. You will also work closely with data engineers, software engineers, product owners and business stakeholders.
This position is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex analytical problems, developing models from initial exploration through to implementation and communicating technical findings clearly.
What you’ll be doing
Design, develop, evaluate and improve machine-learning models.
Build advanced analytical solutions that address practical business requirements.
Apply statistical-analysis and data-mining methods to large datasets.
Prepare, clean and transform data for analysis and modelling.
Create and select meaningful features for machine-learning models.
Establish appropriate evaluation methods and performance metrics.
Review models and analytical work to maintain high technical standards.
Write clear, maintainable and reproducible Python code.
Create visualisations that communicate patterns, trends and analytical findings.
Work with data engineers and software engineers to help move models towards production.
Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to understand their requirements.
Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Monitor model quality and help identify changes in performance over time.
Maintain documentation for models, experiments and analytical processes.
Apply version-control and reproducibility practices to data-science projects.
Help identify new areas where data science could create measurable business value.
Contribute to the continued development of the department’s data-science practices and strategy.
What we’re looking for
A university degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or another quantitative discipline.
At least three years of professional experience in data science, machine learning or advanced analytics.
Strong Python programming skills.
Practical experience using Pandas, NumPy or similar data-analysis libraries.
Strong knowledge of machine-learning concepts and methods.
A solid understanding of statistics and data-mining techniques.
Experience preparing data and engineering features for predictive models.
Experience evaluating and validating machine-learning models.
Familiarity with data-visualisation libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn or Plotly.
Experience working with relational databases.
Experience working with non-relational databases.
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
The ability to communicate technical findings clearly.
The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Skills that would be an advantage
Knowledge of recommendation systems.
Experience developing production-ready machine-learning solutions.
Familiarity with model monitoring and performance tracking.
Experience working with large or complex datasets.
Knowledge of reproducible analytics and experiment tracking.
Experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions.
Familiarity with data-engineering or software-engineering workflows.
Work arrangement
This is a full-time hybrid position that may be based in either Limassol or Nicosia, Cyprus.
