Software Developer Java/Node.JS (Web Development Team)

About the Role

JetBrains is seeking a Software Developer to join the Web Development team, working on internal company-wide web applications and services. This is an end-to-end ownership position covering architecture, implementation, deployment, and long-term support of production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop internal web applications and services

• Participate in solution architecture decisions, including decomposing services and defining their interactions

• Build and maintain services in AWS and Kubernetes-based environments

• Develop tools and platforms for localization workflows and third-party integrations

• Improve system reliability, scalability, and observability

• Collaborate with teams to evolve shared infrastructure and internal platforms

Requirements

• 3-5 years of backend web development experience with Kotlin or Java

• Experience with Node.js

• Knowledge of modern backend frameworks such as Ktor and Spring

• Proven track record designing and building production-grade systems

• Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including networking, fault tolerance, and scalability

• Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-structured code

• Willingness to take ownership of production systems and support continuous improvement

• Strong communication and collaborative skills

Nice-to-Have

Infrastructure as code experience (Terraform), CI/CD pipeline knowledge, observability tools familiarity, and practical AI tool usage in development workflows.
