About the role
Team Lead Kotlin Infrastructure
JetBrains is seeking an engineering leader to lead the Kotlin Infrastructure team, responsible for building and evolving developer infrastructure that enables hundreds of engineers to work efficiently across the Kotlin repository and broader ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and drive long-term evolution of Kotlin infrastructure alongside a Technical Lead, balancing immediate needs with strategic investments
Own planning and prioritization of infrastructure initiatives across the organization
Lead initiatives improving developer productivity and experience in build systems, CI/CD, release infrastructure, and internal tooling
Coach and support engineers through feedback, mentorship, and hiring decisions
Guide infrastructure evolution including local development workflows, code review processes, build architecture and performance optimization
Secure engineering infrastructure through dependency management, reproducible builds, secrets handling, and access controls
Facilitate cross-team collaboration on platform strategy and engineering workflows
Required Experience:
Proven track record leading engineering teams or large technical initiatives
Strong experience with developer infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, or internal engineering platforms
Deep understanding of software build systems and engineering workflows at scale
Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills
Demonstrated commitment to platform stability, quality, and long-term thinking
Nice-to-Have: TeamCity, Gradle, Kotlin, JVM ecosystem, large monorepositories, or internal developer platforms.
