QA Automation Engineer – IntelliJ IDEA Java Build Tools
JetBrains is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join the IntelliJ IDEA Java Build Tools QA team. The role focuses on ensuring quality for a critical component of the IntelliJ IDEA IDE, specifically the Maven and Gradle build tools that thousands of developers rely on daily. Your work will directly impact how smoothly users can open, sync, build, and run their Java projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scenarios across multiple platforms (Linux, Windows, macOS, Docker, WSL)
Expand test coverage for new and existing functionality in Java build tools
Debug and troubleshoot test failures to maintain automation reliability
Improve existing automation frameworks and reduce test flakiness based on team feedback
Track quality metrics including testing coverage, failure rates, and flakiness
Collaborate with QA engineers and developers to define test strategies and monitor test execution
Contribute to test infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline improvements
Perform manual QA activities when necessary and participate in release quality assessments
Share automation best practices and help adopt new frameworks with the team
Required Skills
Proven experience in test automation with solid Java or Kotlin programming skills
Experience with test frameworks (JUnit, TestNG) and build tools (Maven, Gradle)
Understanding of software testing principles and CI/CD tools (TeamCity or similar)
Experience with reporting tools such as Allure
Version control proficiency (Git) and fluent English communication
Strong teamwork, self-discipline, and independent problem-solving abilities
Nice to have: Experience testing developer tools, IDEs, or desktop applications; familiarity with JVM frameworks and databases.
