QA Automation Engineer

About the Role

JetBrains is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join the Core team responsible for the foundational IntelliJ Platform components, including the editor, indexing, settings, and plugins. This role offers full ownership of the QA domain for a team working on highly complex systems used across all JetBrains IDEs by millions of developers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain UI, end-to-end, functional, and integration tests across Linux, Windows, and macOS platforms

• Analyze test failures, track test coverage, and identify coverage gaps in complex scenarios and edge cases

• Improve test diagnostics, frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines to reduce flakiness and increase reliability

• Mentor a junior QA engineer through task planning, code review, and technical guidance

• Investigate technical problems independently and communicate findings clearly to the development team

• Proactively identify quality priorities and drive quality initiatives end-to-end

Required Qualifications

• Extensive background in software quality assurance and test automation

• Strong programming skills for developing, maintaining, and debugging UI tests

• Proficiency with testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG

• Proven ability to investigate and troubleshoot failures across products, infrastructure, and environments

• Fluency in written and spoken English

• Strong sense of ownership, collaborative mindset, and ability to work independently on complex problems
